Who We Are?

Jim Statz
Founder & Lead Instructor
Jim Statz began his Tae Kwon Do journey at the age of fourteen and quickly developed a passion for the art. He enjoyed the challenge of progressing through the ranks, earning his first Black Belt, and continually pushing himself to refine his skills. Over the years, Jim has been fortunate to learn from, and train alongside many talented and good-hearted individuals who have shaped his growth both as a martial artist and as a person.
Special thanks to the many folks who have influenced my martial arts and my life
* My parents Ray and Helen who let me start this journey and continue it as long as I wanted to.
* Dennis Kellar, Professional Karate Center - my first instructor and friend.
* All of my peers as we made our way through our belts, Black Belt and beyond at Professional Karate Center.
* Bob and Seth Degnan, friends that shared more than martial arts. A truly personal influence.
* Various Martial Arts Studios over decades who have always been open and inviting.
* Lance Jensen, lifelong friend, martial artist and Modern Arnis instructor.
* Randi Shea, a friend, martial artist and Modern Arnis instructor.
* Grand Master Remy Presas, whose Modern Arnis has influenced me and my sparring style profoundly.
* Every martial artist I've sparred, from newer belts to the most experienced - if we are open, we learn from everyone.
